An exhibition of all the geothermal features at the world famous Yellowstone Supervolcano.Mainly geysers,hot springs,steam vents or fumaroles and mud pots.The word geyser comes from the Icelandic word "geysir",which means to gush.Geysers gush boiling hot water from narrow conduits after hot rocks heated by the magma becomes pressurised and exceeds the strength of the roof rocks.However,they need earthquakes to keep these conduits free of debris.In the same way that water is heated up under pressure in a pressure cooker and then this pressure is suddenly released as steam through the nozzle,its the same process that happens at Yellowstone with the groundwater being heated up under pressure and released as all the geysers and other geothermal features.
